The WAA - Seattle Chapter is the official University of Wisconsin
Alumni Association club for the Puget Sound region.
We are an organization with over 1000 participants, from over 5000
Wisconsin Badger Alumni in the Puget Sound area, involved in a wide
variety of club activities, events and community service. There are no
member dues, our primary goal is socializing with fellow Badgers and
friends, not fund raising. The following are our upcoming events:
December 6, 2008 - Wisconsin vs. Marquette -
We are planning to get together to watch the Badger Basketball
team take on Marquette with the local Marquette Alumni at the
Sport Restaurant and Bar across the street from
the Space Needle, 140 4th Avenue North Suite 130, Seattle, 206-404-7768.
Game time is 6:30pm, Saturday, December 6th. So we can give notice to
the restaurant as to the size of the group please RSVP to Steve at
albright@seanet.com.
December 13, 2008 - Badger Holiday Party
This year's Badger Holiday Party is set for December 13th from 6:00pm -
10:00pm...and it may be our best one yet. The event will be hosted by
Fortunato's in Woodinville...a newly established wine store and coffee
bar owned and operated by Badger backer Rudy Nieuwenhuis. This newly
renovated space is gorgeous and will ensure fun is had by all. The
address is: 17410 133rd Ave NE (at 175th St) Woodinville, WA 98072. Food
for this event will be catered. Naturally, beer (provided by Wisconsin
Alum Paul Mott from Widmer Craft Beers), wine (provided by Fortunato's),
soft drinks and water will also be provided. We also have a special
treat for dessert.....Frozen Custard! If you're like me...you probably
have not had any since the last time you were in Wisconsin. Well thanks
to Board Member Larry Jaeck...we will have it for our holiday party.
"Peaks Frozen Custard is delighted to be the dessert choice of the
Wisconsin Alumni Association-Seattle Chapter! You'll be some of the
first in the region to enjoy real frozen custard, made fresh in the
special machine from Kiel, WI. Fresh cream, sugar and eggs make our mix
and it is produced locally at Snoqualmie Creamery in Maltby,WA. All 3
owners are Alums ourselves, and are excited to get your feedback, flavor
ideas and to get to know you better."
Also new this year....a holiday themed costume contest! We will have
1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for the best and most unique holiday
themed costumes. So come and enjoy a fully catered meal, frozen custard,
holiday music, a costume contest and the camaraderie of Wisconsin
Alums.....at no cost!
Although we are not charging for this event, we will encourage everyone
to please make a donation, big or small, to our scholarship fund to
defer some of the cost of this event. Look for the big red donation box
at the holiday party.
For those who can not make the party, you can also mail donations
locally to P.O. Box 1480, Lake Stevens, WA 98258. Please make checks
payable to the "Rain City Badgers".
We look forward to seeing you! Please RSVP as soon as possible since
this is a catered event...we want to be sure to have an accurate count
on the number of guests. To RSVP please contact Jared at
jnieuwenhuis@comcast.net.
